FOR VENTURA CITY COUNCIL

LONG-TERM VISION AND PRIORITIES

Maintain Our Unique Identity

Ventura is not your average coastal California city. Our unique culture aspires to preserve and protect our identity as a city with a small-town feel. We can evolve as a community while keeping our identity. As we improve our internal processes, transparency, and community engagement, we will maintain the character of our growing city.

Prioritize Public Safety

To increase safety within the City of Ventura, I am committed to increasing support and resources for our first responders. Focusing on public safety and building strong relationships with county partners will ensure the interests of Ventura’s residents are prioritized, increasing our quality of life.

After years of deferred maintenance to our infrastructure, especially our streets and sidewalks, the city increased its budget for the next fiscal year. But that won’t be enough. Annual increases in infrastructure maintenance will require increased scrutiny of our budget processes and extensive community outreach. With those improvements, together we will move toward a future where no city streets or sidewalks are in complete disrepair.

Revitalize Roads and Infrastructure

Growing Our Economy

Starting and expanding a business in Ventura, whether large or small, has proven difficult. We must alleviate the red tape and slow processes that restrict business development. The 11,000 business license holders in Ventura are the backbone of our economy, and the city needs to provide them with the resources needed
to ensure their success.

Protect Our Natural Resources

We must be good stewards of our environment, including Ventura’s natural hillsides, precious open spaces, Ventura and Santa Clara rivers, and priceless agricultural resources. Ventura must be a leader among California coastal communities and cities worldwide in continuing to respect and adapt to our changing coastline.
